Kamila Zapytowska Usuki provides psychotherapy, life coaching and psychological support in competitive sports & performing arts. She has an extensive experience in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationships, and chronic health conditions such as infertility, alopecia, cancer, migraine headaches, addictions and psychosomatic conditions lacking a medical explanation. Kamila’s practice welcomes people from diverse backgrounds, addressing aspects of communication, integration, major life transitions and multicultural challenges. One of Kamila’s main specialities is working with competitive, elite athletes, performing artists and film/media professionals.
Kamila's background in performing arts and sports (including Broadway and Olympics) makes her additionally aware of various pressures that can hinder personal and professional growth. She is especially familiar with struggles of perfectionism, procrastination, self-image, performance anxiety, injuries and exploitation.
Kamila completed her postgraduate studies at the International Psychotherapy Institute in Washington, DC where she studied psychoanalytic psychotherapy. She is a certified Object Relations Theory teacher and Affective Group leader. She has taught seminars on symbolism, psychosomatic disorders, dreams and their significance, among other themes from the object relations perspective. Kamila's seminars were co-sponsored by the International Psychotherapy Institute, Washington DC, and the NJ Society for Clinical Social Work. She has masters degrees from the Hunter College of Social Work in New York and the Warsaw Academy of Physical Eduction in Poland where she studied sports psychology and coaching. Kamila is a recipient of Jacob Goldfein Award for Creative and Scholarly Work for Body-centered Therapies and Healing Trauma.
